Kindergartners say thanks for making trail

This year, our All Saints kindergarten class took several adventures to Little Turtle. We thought we should thank the community, the Logansport Parks Department and Little Turtle Board for the opportunities we had to learn about nature and get some great exercise. Kindergartners are like super scientists; they just notice so many things and seem to appreciate the small stuff that adults might not even see. Here are some of our favorite memories as written by our students. There are always different colored flowers along the trail. Some are yellow, some are white but the purple ones are best. The trees along the path are really nice. We noticed that the leaves are different. We also counted the rings on the tree to find out how old the tree was. We went to Mrs. Brown's favorite tree. It's a big tree with white bark. It looks like it caught on fire but the branches at the top of the tree are alive. It would make the best hiding spot. You can find lots of birds along the trail. We saw lots of ducks in the water and geese along the shore. In the fall, we saw a blue crane. In the spring we saw a lady who was taking pictures of an eagle. If you are really quiet, you can hear the birds calling to each other. In the spring, we noticed that someone had put up lots of birdhouses. We are good at counting so we counted them all. One time, when we went to Little Turtle, some of us saw a furry, brown bunny. On our last walk, we had to call it a "snail walk." We saw at least 25 snails! The snails were hiding in their shells. We gathered lots of snails but decided to set them free.We got lots of exercise when we walked the trail. Twice we walked the whole trail and played with a parachute in the grassy area. Once we listened to a loud train and waved to the engineer. We have really learned a lot this year and we say thanks to the Parks Department, the Little Turtle Board as well as the Logansport community for making this possible.
