Mary E. Quillen Britton Farrer


LOGANSPORT — Mary E. Quillen Britton Farrer, 95, Logansport, passed away at 12:49 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born June 13, 1917, in Logansport, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Daniel A. and Rose Rothermell Quillen. She was married January 18, 1948 to Walter “Tuck” Farrer who preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1983.

She was retired from Quillen Electric where she had worked as a bookkeeper.

Mary was a longtime member of the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Joan DeFord of Logansport; one brother, Paul Quillen, of Logansport; two sisters-in-law, Amy Quillen and Diane Quillen of Logansport; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Rance; and four brothers, Clarence “Red,” Harry, Jack and Bill Quillen; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John’s Cemetery, near Clymers.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. today until the time of the service in the funeral chapel.
