Gas prices hurt local businesses

Almost every day in the place I work someone will bring up the price of gas in Logansport. Then I don’t know how many people will get out their smart phone and bring up their app that will give the price of gas in other communities. It is established that we pay 20 to 30 cents more on the gallon than the other communities. Then the conversation begins on why whoever is responsible for setting these prices thinks that they have to stick it to the people of Logansport.

Almost without fail, someone will then comment on how they will drive out of town to buy their gas and that while they are out of town they will get some groceries and go to a restaurant for a meal. If I were a business owner in Logansport, it would upset me very much that people were dining and buying groceries in other communities.

I’m going to Kokomo today, I think that I will fill up my tank, get some groceries and grab a bite somewhere.

Just wanted to put it out there. I’m sure that I’m not the only one that feels this way!

Steve Hartoin, Logansport
