Are we getting whatwe’re paying for in D.C.?
Being retired, I find myself watching the news channels more and being absorbed into the idea that I have to know everything that is going on in the world.
It really strikes me on how messed up the world is these days. It also puzzles me that everyone’s problems are our problems. I do believe that we are our brother’s keeper, but I also believe that a person should have his house in order before he worries about someone else’s house.
The Speaker of the House announced the other day that he did not plan on any large legislation to be brought up until after the mid-term elections. All our nation’s problems can be put on hold because we have an election coming up? I get it, they need more time to blame each other for all the problems that we have and that the other guys don’t have the answers to solve them.
Congress is in session about three days a week. What are they doing on Monday and Friday? They sure as heck are not talking to each other. From what I see on the news networks, all they want to do is complain because someone else wants to do something. Do you think that everyone that is working should get the rest of the year off to think about who we should elect and get paid for it? That is what is happening with Washington, D.C.
Our tax money is paid to them so they will take care of the people’s business. Are we getting what we are paying for? The only thing that they are worried about is keeping their jobs. The Congress and the Senate have turned a job into a career. I believe the longer a person stays in a position, the more it becomes about what they feel is the right way to handle things. It becomes all about them and not about us and our thoughts.
