Thanks to all for relay help

The Cass County Relay for Life was held on Saturday at Lewis Cass Football Stadium. Due to the inclement weather conditions and for the safety of all involved in the relay it was moved to Saturday.

Lewis Cass school officials and the community should be very proud. Their cheerleaders provided help in filling the hundreds of luminaria and setting them around the track. They went out of their way trying to help make the relay go as smoothly as possible due to changes.

Also, thanks to Lewis Cass for giving us such as a nice gentleman who assisted in setting up, keeping the trash emptied and at the end helping in cleaning up the luminarias. Due to the change, many teams, survivors and team members were not able to attend due to already having plans on Saturday.

The Cass County Relay for Life is a team. We have a great group of committee members who really understand the meaning of “team” work. It is always nice to hear someone say “do you need any help?” Not everyone is a committee member but we also have several volunteers who step up and help out any way needed.

A “really big thanks” to Lewis Cass for hosting the Cass County Relay for Life. Your facilities were outstanding, and your community was very supportive. If anyone would like to learn more about the Cass County Relay for Life by forming a team for next year or would like to be on one of the committees, it would be great. You can contact our wonderful regional director, Christy Hagen, at (765) 455-9905 or christy.hagen@cancer.org.

If you are a cancer survivor and would like to be on the mailing list for the next year survivor ceremony, you can contact the Logansport Regional Cancer Center at (574) 722-3650.

To each and every business or individual who donated to Cass County Relay for Life, it would not be possible without your continual donations. We all hope one day soon we can wipe out cancer. I know that if I had lung cancer 10 years ago, I probably would have not have been participating in the survivor ceremony. We have excellent doctors, surgeons and a state-of-the-art hospital in Cass County. Research and early detection awareness are just a few ways your dollars are put to work to help fight cancer.

Thanks again Lewis Cass and Walton community. It was great.
