Thanks for support of school carnival

The Indiana State Police Peru Post would like to thank Lincoln Middle School, Cass County community, and anyone else who helped make the April 17 Lincoln Carnival a success. Money was raised in honor of Trooper Daniel Barrett, who died in the line of duty on Jan. 27.

The support we have received from you is overwhelming and much appreciated. We know that you grieve with us and the Barrett family over the loss of Logansport's own, Trooper Daniel R. Barrett.  

“Daniel was an outstanding Indiana state trooper and even better person,” stated ISP Sgt. Jeremy Kelly, Daniel's immediate supervisor. “Daniel was professional and always eager to help and protect the vulnerable in our society. Even though his career was brief, the impact of his death will be felt for many years.”

The money raised will benefit the Indiana State Police Alliance’s “Cops for Kids” program and Riley Children’s Hospital. I’m sure Daniel would have been proud to have his name associated with two organizations that help sick and disadvantaged children. Lincoln Middle School’s willingness to host a carnival and the community’s support has allowed Trooper Daniel Barrett to continue serving the vulnerable in our society after his death.
