Movie preview: “Chasing Mavericks”

Kokomo — Rated: PG for thematic elements and some perilous action

Plot: Based on the true story of surfing icon Jay Moriarty, a Santa Cruz teen with a natural talent for surfing can't resist the temptation to conquer the mountainous Mavericks surf break. Realizing that his lack of experience could spell doom, the teen seeks the wisdom of veteran surfer, and begins a mentorship that turns into a unique lifelong bond.
