[friday] Best bet

Start year off right by giving blood

Start the new year off on the right foot by giving back to the community. How? You can start by making it a point to get out to one of the upcoming blood drives. You’ll have two chances this weekend.

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, there will be a blood drive at Martin’s Supermarket, 3420 E. Market St. Donate and get a 2-ounce brick of Dunkin Donuts coffee and a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin Donuts coffee.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, you’ll have another chance at Walmart Supercenter, 240 Mall Road.

If you just can’t make one of the blood drives this weekend, you’ll have more chances.

• From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the YMCA in the gymnasium, 905 E. Broadway.

• From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Logansport Memorial Hospital in Conference Room A-B, 1101 Michigan Ave.

• From 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Woodbridge Health Campus in the Multi-Purpose Room, 602 Woodbridge Ave.

See? It’s already proving to be a year full of opportunities.

  • Film Review Guardians of the Galaxy-3 [Duplicate] [Duplicate] Review: 'Guardians' is irreverent but not enough At the height of their powers, our overlords at Marvel have deigned to prove, like an emperor tolerating a court jester, that they do, in fact, have a sense of humor.
