Larimore honored as National Merit Commended Student
Pioneer Junior-Senior High School announced that Brett Larimore, son of David and Lyla Larimore, has been named a National Merit Commended Student in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Brett placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2010 competition by taking the 2008 Preliminary SAT/NMSQT Test.
Principal, Bob Brock, will present Brett with a letter of commendation certificate from the National Merit Scholarship Competition in June at the Senior Awards Program.
Brett has been very active in the Legion of Gold Marching Band throughout his high school career. He has participated in Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Solo and Ensemble Competition, where he earned a Gold Division rating at Regional, and a Silver rating at the State Competition.
Additionally he participates in numerous academic competitions, including Brain Game, Midwest Conference Math Contest, where he earned first place his junior year, Pioneer Robotics Team, and Student Rotarian grade 12 Brett also has been a member of the Lighthouse Youth Group.
He plans to attend Purdue University and major in engineering.
