Legion of Gold places fourth

Contest season is in full swing, and the Legion of Gold placed fourth in their first full performance of “The Dark Side of Oz” during the “Sounds of September” Invitational at Maconaquah High School on Sept. 20.

The Pioneer High School Legion of Gold has been busy since the last week of Band Camp in July. After a recent Friday night pregame show to open Homecoming Night in the Pit (which was only their second chance to publicly perform the full theme and the first chance while using props), Pioneer competed at the ISSMA District Contest at Lewis Cass High School on Oct. 4.

Pioneer opened the contest with the very first performance of the day at 11 a.m. The legion earned a spot at regionals by earning a gold status at district contest. Regional competition is scheduled for Oct. 18.

The Pioneer High School Legion of Gold traveled to Twin Lakes High School for the “Spirit of the Lakes” Invitational Contest on Sept. 27. Pioneer took home not only second place out of eight other bands in that competition, but they also captured Best Drum Major Award and Best Pit Crew Award. Photo provided / (Click for larger image)
