Caston FFA member’s have successful convention
The members of the Caston FFA represented their chapter at the yearly gathering of the Indiana FFA Organization that for 2008 carries the theme of “Harvesting Success to Fuel the Future.”
Skylar Powlen received third place in the State for her Fruit Production Proficiency, and Powlen and Erica Zartman were awarded their Hoosier FFA Degree. This is the highest honor that an FFA member can receive in Indiana.
Anna Douglass, Skylar Powlen and Erica Zartman placed second in the State Retail Marketing Career Development Event. The Caston FFA Chapter Multi Media Scrapbook was also honored, receiving fourth place in the State Career Development Event.
The team of Kory Moudy, Megan Powell, Skylar Powlen and Erica Zartman participated in the State Ag Business Management Career Development Event. Anna Douglass, Eli Fred, Travis Powell and Emily Sailors participated in the State Ag Communications Career Development Event.
Caston was also recognized as a Superior Chapter in the State of Indiana again this year.
Erica Zartman was elected by the District 2 delegate body to serve as the District 2 president for the 2008-09 school year. Joining her on the District Officer team are three other Caston students, Skylar Powlen, secretary; Travis Powell, reporter; and Paige Thomas, sentinel. Gabi Sailors, of Warsaw, was elected vice president, and Nate Lenig, of Penn Harris Madison, was elected as the district treasurer.
