Midwest Math Contest

Pioneer math students won the Midwest Math Contest on April 23. The team score of 1,435 beat out Frontier with a score of 1,362. Third place was West Central with a score of 1,055.
The squad also won team titles in Calculus and Algebra I. They earned second place in Algebra 2, Geometry and Comprehensive.
Individual Champions for Pioneer were Jacob Layer and Ty Shrontz in Calculus; and Nathaneal Stevenson in Algebra 1.
Other individual awards were won by
Algebra 1: Nicole Korniak, second place; Aaron Marshall, fifth place; and Nathan Kistler, 10th place.
Geometry: Ethan Groff, third place; Matthias Phillips, fourth place.
Algebra 2: Frederik Hansen, fourth place; Ryan Bice, fifth place; Dustin Rogers, 10th place.
Comprehensive: Brittany Foerg, fourth place; JD Bridge, sixth place; and Tony Williams, ninth place.
Calculus: John Farrer, third place; Brandon McIntosh, fourth place; and Cody Breedlove, sixth place +C.

The Pioneer Junior High mathematics squad’s performance was the second-best among the 40 Class 4 schools competing recently in an academic contest. Each squad member will receive a special medallion honoring their work and the school will receive a plaque in honor of their achievement.
