Ivy Tech announces Who’s Who honorees

KOKOMO — Fifteen students from Ivy Tech Community College were recently honored with inclusion in the 2008 list of Who’s Who Among American Junior Colleges.

The following students in the area were honored for their scholarship, participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, their citizenship and service to Ivy Tech. Among the 15 students, those in this area included Ella Louise Foust, Krista M. Lawler and Norma Saenz, all of Logansport; Trudie Harrison, Twelve Mile; and Camile S. Zimpleman, Rochester.

Robertson earnsFFA scholarship

Benjamin Robertson, Lewis Cass Junior-Senior High School, was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the 2008-09 academic year at Ivy Tech Community College.

Ivy Tech started its agriculture program in the fall of 2007 offering a specialty in crop production. Beginning this fall, the college also plans to offer concentrations in agriculture business management and agriculture equipment management.

Students named to Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS — Among the 26 students named to the All-Indiana Academic Team include local students on the second team, Angela Southerton, Logansport; and third team, Norma Saenz, Logansport.

Phi Theta Kappa sponsors the event along with USA Today and the American Association of Community Colleges. The academic competition scores students on academic honors, activities including leadership and work experience and an essay.

Civic Players announces winners

Civic Players of Logansport has announced the winners of its Spring 2008 Student Art Competition.

First prize, $100, went to Jonathon Brown; second prize, $50, went to Daniel Dominguez; and third prize went to Nito Luna, all of Lincoln Middle School.

Honorable mentions included Michael Amos, Maria Garcia, Megan Hildebrandt, Rachel Jennings, Kayli Slone and Andrew Wamsley, all of Lincoln Middle School.

Prizes, including a free ticket to Civic Players spring Musical, “50 Years of Musical Magic” for each finalist, will be awarded May 15 at Lincoln Middle School Awards Night.
