BPA places at state competition

Century Career Center’s Business Professionals of America Chapter competed at the state championship on March 16-18 at Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis.
Century brought home one state championship in computer animation. Joey Graybeal, a senior at the career center, brought home the state championship by creating a two-minute Animated Movie in Maya, the same software used in Pixar movies. His theme was creating a new promotional movie for the Oasis Hotel in Nevada.
CCC’s Web Design team placed ninth in the state at the competition. The team consisted of Annie Handy, Ginger Butner and Jacqueline Vogler. The theme for the Web site was “The Environment and You.” The group used Dreamweaver 8 and Fireworks 8 to design the Web site, which is located at http://staff.lcsc.k12.in.us/vernonj/index.html
Ginger Butner placed fifth in graphic design in her section. She created logo and flyer for the 2009 National Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. Her theme for the National Conference was “Make It Big,” and she used Fireworks 8 for the contest.
Matt Metz competed in fundamental accounting; Jacqueline Vogler competed in database applications; Kelsey Richey competed in prepared speech; and Jonathon Tierney competed in the general open events at the state conference.
The team adviser is Jon Vernon, business and information technology curriculum leader and instructor.
