County fair

Fun for the whole family

If you haven’t already made plans to be there, mark your calendar for next week’s Cass County Fair.

You’ll see lots of folks you know at the fair.

This is a huge event for families throughout the county.

Local businesses will be there to show off their products, and 4-H members will be on hand to show off their livestock and to compete in countless other contests.

The competitions start Saturday, and the carnival opens on Monday. In addition to the rides and the tasty fair food, there are lots of events scheduled during the fair.

There will be a talent contest on Monday along with a garden tractor pull and a performance by the gospel group Highway 1. Fireworks will follow at dusk.

On Tuesday, there’s karaoke, and on Wednesday, there’s mechanical bull riding and the Little Cowboy and Cowgirl Cutie Contest. Thursday brings more mechanical bull riding, and a Country Jamboree.

On Friday night, the fair will feature a tractor pull and music by the Kitchel Brothers and Grace Scott, and Saturday will bring the 4-H Livestock Auction followed by a tractor pull and a teen dance.

And those are only the highlights.

A lot of hard work has gone into this event. The planning began almost as soon as last year’s fair ended, and in recent weeks, hundreds of volunteers have been scrambling to make sure everything is in place for a great fair.

Lots of memories are made at the county fair each year. You won’t want to miss it.
