Woman arrested for giving cell phone to inmate

Bunker Hill — On Wednesday, a woman was arrested for trafficking contraband to an inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility.

Tammy Smith, 31, of Mexico, was arrested for trafficking with an offender while working at the Miami Correctional Facility. Facility investigators initiated an inquiry after an offender was found in possession of a cellular telephone, charger and ear piece.

Smith is charged with a class A Misdemeanor. She has been employed with Aramark, a company that provides food services for the prison, since August of 2006.
