Community happenings: One-day VBS, art lecture, dine to donate

One-day VBS slated Saturday

Grace Fellowship Church is hosting a Vacation Bible School one-day camp from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday This was rescheduled from last week due to weather. It is for children from kindergarten through sixth grade. Meet at the church, 1701 E. Market St.; VBS will be at a different location. There will be horseback riding, crafts, rodeo games and lunch. Gallery hosting art history lecture

PERU — The Peru Community Schools Fine Art Gallery, housed in Peru High School, will host Dr. Elizabeth Kuebler Wolf at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 3 for a lecture. Wolf is an assistant professor of art history at the University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne. The gallery will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. with a reception following the lecture.

The Fine Art Gallery is currently displaying a new exhibit and features artwork by Edgar Ende, Arthur Carles, and Helion, to name a few.

Alcohol commission OK's DST sales

The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission announced that alcoholic beverage sales may continue until 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Because daylight saving time changes clocks to 1 a.m. at 2 a.m. on Sunday, alcoholic beverage outlets will have one additional hour during which they may serve or sell alcoholic beverages on this date. Pursuant to Indiana law, they must still cease sales at 3 a.m.

Michael Booth and Friends encore at library

MONTICELLO — The Monticello-Union Township Public Library will continue the bi-monthly concert series, Michael Booth and Friends in Concert, at noon Nov. 9. They will be performing music from the 1900's through the 1950's with a focus on the "standards." Requests will be taken.
