Community happenings: Noodle dinners, style show, Dems event


Church offering noodle dinner

Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church is having a chicken noodle dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the church, 440 Wheatland Ave.

The menu will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw or applesauce, dinner roll, dessert and beverage.

Miami Dems slate annual dinner

PERU — Beth White, candidate for secretary of state, will be the keynote speaker for Miami County Democrats’ Jefferson-Jackson Banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Eagles Lodge, 54 N. Grant St., Peru.

Tickets for the event are $35 per person and can be ordered before Oct. 24 by calling 765-689-5419 or by emailing Dinner will be catered by Ron Short from the Siding Restaurant. There will

be a silent auction and a money tree drawing.

Grab soup, sandwich at Poplar Grove

YOUNG AMERICA — The Poplar Grove United Methodist Church is sponsoring its annual soup and sandwich supper from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Young America Lions Den, on Ind. 18 in Young America.

Show support for Caston cheerleaders

TWELVE MILE — Caston cheerleaders will offer an all-you-can-eat ham and bean supper with cornbread and drink for $5.

The dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at The Old Mill, 6512 E. Ind. 16, Twelve Mile. Dessert will be available for an additional fee. For more information, call 574-857-5505.

County road reopens after project

Indian Creek Road, just south of 400 North, has re-opened following a culvert replacement. There may be some work at the site in the coming days, but traffic can pass through.

Boutique offering style show in Flora

FLORA — Grapevine Boutique will host a style show at 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at Flora United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 103 E. Main St, Flora.

The event is sponsored by Delta Theta Chi, Indiana Gamma Chapter. Tickets are $7 each.

GOP gearing up for fall fundraiser

Republican Fall Fundraiser kicks off at 5 p.m. with appetizers, followed by the meal at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Boondockers.

The theme will feature remembering faithful Republicans, and there will be both a silent and live auction.

Catch annual toy show Sunday in Fulton County

ROCHESTER — The Fulton County Historical Power Association will hold its annual toy show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Fulton County museum, located 4 miles north of Rochester at U.S. 31 and 375 North.

Vendors of farm toys new and old, NASCAR, Matchbox, and other farm-related handcrafted items will be available.

Admission is $1 for ages 12 and older. Free for children 11 and under. Food will be available all day. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call the museum office at 574-223-4436.
