Community happening: Food Finders, Third House sessions

Food Finders setup Saturday

ROYAL CENTER — Food Finders Food Bank Mobile Pantry will be distributing food at 11 a.m. Saturday at Royal Center United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 204 S. Market St., Royal Center.

There will be fresh produce, an assortment of frozen items, essential non-perishable items and breads available to people in need in the Royal Center area. Anyone in need of emergency food assistance in Royal Center and the surrounding area is welcome to attend.

Call Food Finders at 765-471-0062 for income guidelines.

Third Housesessions slated

Cass County residents may meet with state legislators (Sen. Randy Head and Reps. Don Lehe and Bill Friend) at a Third House Session from 8 to 9 a.m. Jan. 25 at the West Side Diner, 1120 W. Market St., to hear about issues that are before them at the Statehouse.

The event is free to attend and registration is not required.

Similar events will take place in Carroll County. Sen. Brandt Hershman (representing District 22) and Rep. Don Lehe (House District 25) will meet with local residents from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Feb. 1 and March 1 at Security Federal Savings Bank Community Room in Delphi. Sen. Hed and Rep. Heath VanNatter (House District 38) will meet with residents from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 1 and March 1 at the Flora Public Library.

A 2014 Legislative Breakfast Third House wrap-up session with all Carroll County legislators is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. April 5 at Cabo’s Mexican Grill in Delphi.

Literacy group hosting open house

Literacy Volunteers will have an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 25 at the HeadStart Building, 600 Regency Place — enter through the west door. Meet other members or tutors, address any questions you might have and find out more about Literacy Volunteers. RSVP should be made to Carolyn Killion by Jan. 20 at 574-355-0986.
