Community happenings: GOP Women, gift baskets, style show, arts fest

Schedule changesfor jazz cabaret

The annual Logansport High School jazz cabaret concert will have a slight change this year.

The Logansport High School swing choir will perform as planned at 7 p.m. today at the McHale Performing Arts Center, then a United States Marine Corp. band will perform around 7:45 p.m. The middle and high school jazz bands will not appear at this year’s event.

The 1st Marine Division Band, based out of Camp Pendleton, will perform a jazz combo with Sinatra-styled music, New Orleans Dixieland music and pop. There will be musicians as well as one or two vocalists.

The entire event is free.

GOP Women tomeet Tuesday

Cass County Republican Women’s Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Firestone Grill, 27 S. Third St., Logansport. The menu will be ham and broasted chicken. The meeting will be upstairs. Following the meeting, the club will tour the Political Museum of Judge Julian and Sue Ridlen at 417 North St.

Gift baskets topic for mission meeting

The Emmaus Mission will be holding a public information meeting at 2:30 p.m. Friday at 805 Spencer St., Logansport. The mission would like to inform the public about the senior citizens gift baskets that are given to area seniors at Christmastime. All area churches, sororities and other area organizations that would like to become part of the project are invited to attend.

Volunteer guildto host style show

The Mary Dykeman Guild of Logansport Memorial Hospital will have a Salad Bar and Style Show at 6 p.m. April 9 at Calvary Presbyterian Church. This event features a delicious salad bar and a style show with Guild members modeling clothing from the Grapevine Boutique in Flora.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the Gift Shop in the lobby of Logansport Memorial Hospital or by calling 574-753-1304.
