Community happenings: Gift wrapping, Alzheimer's group, BMV hours

Blood drive slated at Flora church

FLORA — Flora United Methodist Church is having a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Fellowship Hall, 107 E. Main St.

Sorority to wrap gifts at Logan Mall

Delta Chi Sigma Sorority will be offering gift wrapping at the Logansport Mall on Dec. 14 and 15 and Dec. 20 though 24. Packages of any size and purchased anywhere are encouraged. In addition to wrapping packages, the sorority also offers gift bags for your convenience. Proceeds help the Arthritis Foundation.

Alzheimer's caregivers support group to meet

PERU — On the first Tuesday of the month beginning at 6 p.m., caregivers will meet for the Alzheimer’s Association’s support group. The next meeting will be Dec. 3. Facilitated by a trained leader, the group meets at Oakdale Baptist Church, 348 Chili Ave., Peru.

This Alzheimer’s Association support group meets monthly to provide caregivers with an opportunity to share their experiences and receive support from others coping with Alzheimer’s disease. During the meetings, caregivers are encouraged to share information, give and receive support, and exchange coping experiences and strategies. Meetings are open to the public and facilitated by a trained professional or family member.

BMV to close for two-day Thanksgiving

INDIANAPOLIS – Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Kent Schroder, announced that BMV license branches will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29, in honor of Thanksgiving. All license branches with Saturday hours will resume regular business hours on Nov. 30.
