Community happenings: Chicken noodle dinner, youth basketball

Chicken noodles to be served

TWELVE MILE — Bethlehem United Methodist Church is having a chicken and noodle dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The dinner will also include mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The dinner is held at the church on 625 North, Twelve Mile.

Youth basketball registering this week

WALTON — Kings Youth Basketball League will behaving boys basketball registration for boys currently in third through sixth grades. Registration will be held at Lewis Cass Junior High Gym from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today through Thursday. Cost will be $50 per player and must be paid the night of registration.

Pioneer running after-prom fundraiser

ROYAL CENTER — Pioneer High School is selling 5 gallon buckets of laundry detergent as a fundraiser for their after-prom. Contact Jenny Smith at 574-727-0927 or Julie Lawrence at 765-432-0616 to place an order. The last day to order is Friday.

Church offers homework help

GALVESTON — Galveston United Methodist Church will offer homework help/tutoring from teachers, former teachers, volunteers and present students Tuesday evenings throughout the school year.

Children will need a written note to their teacher, saying a child will be attending ECHO Afterschool and riding the shuttle to Galveston. Adults will escort children from the Thompson Elementary School to the church grounds. A healthy afterschool snack will be provided, and children will be cared for by helpers who have passed a detailed background check. There will be lessons, games and crafts.

ECHO Afterschool will last until 5:15 p.m. every Tuesday. Transportation home can be arranged if needed. For more information, call Jeremy at 574-699-7642.

Support LHS girls basketball China trip

Ten members of the Logansport High School Girls Basketball Team have been invited to travel to China during fall break in October as part of the sister schools cultural exchange between the local community and the Zhejiang province.
