Happenings: Offices closed, blood drive, fish fry, photo show

City offices closed for holiday

Logansport City Offices and Municipal Utilities Office will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.

There will be no trash service on this day. Trash pickup schedule will be one day behind for the remainder of the week with a Saturday pickup.

Blood drive slated at Maconaquah

PERU — Maconaquah Elementary School will host a blood drive from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 11.

Fish fry to benefit VFW

The VFW is hosting a Fish Fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6. The fry is open to public, and $8 a person for all-you-can-eat. It is located at 1023 Erie Ave, Logansport

Photography Show taking submissions

Photography Show 2013 is all new at the Logansport Art Association. New guidelines, rules and new month. Entries will be received noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Viewing will be held Sept. 3 through 27. The Awards and Reception will be at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27.

Artist divisions include youth, novice, intermediate and professional.

• Youth is children kindergarten though 12th grade, or anyone 18 and under – no entry fee for this level and no cash prizes.

• Novice is a beginner – this is your first time entering an art show or competition.

• Intermediate is a skill level falls between novice and professional –no formal training and feels they do not have the experience needed to compete at a higher level.

• Professional is formal training or certification in photography, teaches photography or has a career in the field of photography or anyone who feels they have enough experience to warrant competing in the professional category.

Facebook basics class planned

The Cass County Extension Homemakers will hold a special interest lesson "Facebook Basics" at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Cloverleaf Complex, Cass County Fairgrounds. There is no charge and the public is invited.
