Happenings: Chip-seal starting, DAR events, hunter education

Chip and seal starting today

The Cass County Highway Department will begin a second round of chip-seal application today.

Crews will begin in the northwest corner of the county and work around the county in a counter-clockwise manner to complete the work on approximately 20 miles of roadway. The work is expected to take one to two weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Drivers may encounter brief delays during the chip-seal process, and should be alert for loose stone in the days following the chip seal application.

Olde Towne DAR to rededicate cemetery

The Olde Towne Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, cordially invite you to attend a celebration of the Rededication of the Olde Towne Cemetery from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7.

This is part of the 175th anniversary of the City of Logansport and a Community Service Award. The program will begin at 2:30 p.m. with refreshments following the program. RSVP to joanburton53@live.com or 574-722-2835.

Cass DAR meeting in Sept.

Cass County Daughters of the American Revolution September meeting will be from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Area Five Agency on Aging, 1801 Smith St.

Anyone interested in attending is welcome. Membership requirements are that you be female, over 18 and with a lineage to a Patriot in the American Revolution.

If you are interested in joining, please bring the birth, marriage, divorce and death information on yourself, your spouse and the next two generations. We will assist you with the application and other lineage information to your Patriot Ancestor.
