Restrictions on bridge begin today
MONTICELLO — The Indiana Department of Transportation has instituted major restrictions on the U.S. 24 (Washington Street) bridge in Monticello beginning today through early July.
One lane traffic will be directed over the bridge with flaggers from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. while only emergency vehicles will be permitted on the bridge from 5:30 p.m. overnights until 7:30 a.m.
Crews are building the new U.S. 24 bridge over the Tippecanoe River alongside the existing bridge. The new bridge will be open later this summer.
Church has events coming soon
First United Methodist Church is having a pork chop dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the church, 800 E. Broadway.
Tickets are $8 per person, and the menu includes charcoal-grilled pork chop, baked potato, green beans, roll, dessert and drink. Carry-out curbside service is available. Proceeds benefit the church’s general projects.
Dinner and musicat the Legion
American Legion Projects is presenting Brandt Carmichael with Wrongway from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday. There will be a dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the American Legion, 328 Burlington Ave.
Tickets are $10 for adults. You can sign up to become a member or donate an American flag ready to be retired.
Family Fun Dayset for Saturday
ROYAL CENTER — Baptist Christian Church of Royal Center is having a free Family Fun Day from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Rea Park, Royal Center. There will be bouncy houses, fire trucks and a fire safety house, face painting, bingo, 3-on-3 basketball, horseshoe tournament for individuals 14 years of age and older, pedal tractor obstacle course, sack races, corn hole and carnival games.
Sign up for 3-on-3 basketball will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the basketball court at Rea Park. There’s room for eight teams to register. Those attending will be served a lunch of a hotdog, bag of chips and a cookie.
