Model plane show, block parties, Cuties Contest

Fly your way to Aero-Modelers

WINAMAC — The Winamac Aero-Modelers' first event of the season, Jets Over the Heartland, will be Friday and Saturday at the Winamac club field, just south on Pulaski County Road 100 west. Admission is $5 per car, Saturday only.

There will be turbine-powered radio-controlled jets flying over 200 mph. Flying will take place from mid-morning until dusk with food and seating available on site.

Southeastern plans block parties

GALVESTON — Thompson and Galveston Elementary schools are planning three summer block parties. The first will be 6 to 7 p.m. MOnday at Onward Park, followed by July 14 at Young America Fire Station and July 28 at Anoka Maple Lane Village.

There will be free food, free books, games and music.

Space available at county fair

The Cass County Fair still has booths space available from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. July 7 through 11, for $75. For more information, call Cyrena at 574-664-2661.

Time for the Cuties Contest

FULTON — Children up through 6 years of ages may enter the Penny-a-Vote Contest for the King and Queen of the Fulton Fun Days Festival taking place August 1 through 3.

Entry forms may be picked up at the Fulton Branch Library or you may contact Jessica Rentschler at 574-835-1196 or Leann Coffing at 574-721-2042. The contest is open now through July 28. Contestants ride in the Aug. 2 parade in Fulton.

Nominate the Marshals for parade

FULTON — Fulton-Liberty Lions are looking for parade marshals for the Aug. 2 parade and are asking the public to submit names. The Festival Committee would like to have 10 to 12 local Liberty Township people to be honored as those who contribute to “The Beauty of the Earth,” this year’s theme.

Nominations are sought for people who exhibit one of the following:

• Beautiful landscaping

• Beautiful flower gardens

• Extremely well-groomed farmlands

• Avid recycler

• Volunteer community park worker

• Other

Call the submission to 574-857-6101 and leave clear details or place your nomination in a drop box at the Fulton Branch Library. Include the name of the person doing the nominating.

    Grissom Air Museum is having its eighth Annual Warbird Cruise-In Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show on Saturday in its 15-acre air park. Registration is from 8 a.m. to noon, doors open at 10 a.m. with lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with awards at 3:30 p.m.
