Community happenings: Memorial, photography shows, concert


---- — Bereavement group to have memorial

The Cass County Bereavement Support group is have a "Remembrance Memorial Service" at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the American Red Cross building, 1300 W. Market St. Guest speaker is the Rev. Howard Wade.

The service is in tribute to the memories all the loved ones members have lost. The service will include a candle-lighting ceremony in honor of all lost loved ones. To RSVP or if you have any questions, call 574-753-3483 or 574-702-3060.

LAA members show slated Nov. 19

The Logansport Art Association will be hosting the "Members Invitational" show with a luncheon at noon Nov. 19, at 424 Front St. Tickets are $10 and are available by calling 574-735-2915 or from any board member. Entries for the show, by members only, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 5 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 6 at the gallery.

Trunk or Treat taking place Wednesday

Refuge Worship Center is having a Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at 835 Spear St. Entrance is at the side door.

Shenandoah takes McHale stage Sunday

The Performing Arts Council is presenting the country group "Shenandoah" at 7 p.m. Sunday at McHale Auditorium. Tickets are $30 and there is reserved seating.

Lions to serve pancakes, sausages

YOUNG AMERICA — Young America Lions Club is hosting a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Nov. 9. Ticket includes all the pancakes you can eat, biscuits and gravy; eggs are extra. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2.50 for children.

YMCA offering 'snow' break camp

The YMCA is having "Snow" Break Camp. If Logansport schools are canceled for the entire day due to inclement weather only, children can come to the YMCA for the day. The hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They will spend the day at the Y for some fun activities, like swimming, crafts, games and gym time. $17 for members and $20 for non-members. Register now for TechKNOWFest

KOKOMO — Entries are now being accepted for the 2013 photography exhibit and contest sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region’s Visual Communications program in conjunction with the annual TechKNOWFest/Punkin’ Chunkin’ event.

This year’s TechKNOWFest is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 9.

The photography contest is open to Ivy Tech students and alumni, including dual enrollment students in graphics courses at the Century, Heartland and Kokomo Area career centers, as well as faculty and staff and their immediate families.

The contest will be divided into two main divisions, with two categories in each: Color and Black and White with portrait and landscape photos.

Awards are presented in each division and category along with a People’s Choice Award with voting by participants at TechKNOWFest. Proceeds from the activity will go to a program that provides support for people with diabetes.
