Community happenings: Fundraisers, nursing home hymn sing

---- — Chicken noodles to be plated

The Main Street United Methodist Church will have its annual chicken noodle dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The meal will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, greens beans, coleslaw, dessert and drink. The church is located at 19 E. Main and a donation is requested. Dine in, carry out and drive thru service will be available. For more information, call 574-753-3488.

Fish fry, concert to benefit family

Brandt Carmichael is having a benefit with WrongWay from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday with the Logansport Mall Dan's Fish fry to benefit the Rush family.

Veterans recognition slated Nov. 10

Cross-Wind United Methodist Church is having an all U.S. Veterans special recognition celebration Nov. 10. There will be two services, a traditional service at 8:30 a.m. and a contemporary service at 10:50 a.m. Cross-Wind is located at 616 Ind. 25 North, Logansport.

Nursing homes to be serenaded

The Church Women United of the Logansport Area will sponsor the afternoon services of singing favorite hymns and gospel songs at local nursing homes on Sunday.

The services are set for 2 p.m. at Chase Center in the dining room; 2:45 p.m. at WoodBridge in the west entrance dining room; and 3:30 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor also in the dining room. All ladies are welcome to come and participate in one or all of these services. For more information, call 574-753-6081.

They will also be having a Community Day Celebration with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the program starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 2 at Young America Venter UMC, located at 1125 South and 150 East, Young America. The theme is Walking Through Doors of Oppotunity. The speaker will be Lisa Newman.

Trunk or Treat coming Wednesday

NEW WAVERLY — New Waverly United Methodist Church is having a trunk or treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Cars will be in the church parking lot for your treats; there will also be hot dogs and drinks served in the fellowship hall.

The first 10 kids dressed in costume will receive a special "treat bucket." Limited to children 12 and under unless they are escorting a younger sibling and dressed in costume.

Friends of the Panhandle raising funds

The Friends of the Panhandle Pathway will be having a fundraiser dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2. There will be 100 pre-sale tickets available. The price is $7 each and will include a drink, pulled pork barbeque sandwich, beans and coleslaw. The fundraiser will take place in the parking lot across the street from the Winamac Deli on South Monticello Street, Winamac.

Masonic lodge serving up breakfast

MONTICELLO — Libanus Lodge 154, free and accepted masons, is having a breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at Monticello Masonic Lodge, located next to Hubbard's on Sixth Street. The breakfast is open to the public and the menu will include sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. Donations accepted — all proceeds will go to the White County Food Pantry. Voters league raising funds

The League of Women Voters of Cass County will host a fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Peoples Winery. The event "Wine, Women and Democracy" is open to the public.

Tickets are $20 per person and will entitle attendees to wine and hors d'oeuvres. A ticket may be purchased from any League member of by calling 574-739-2175. The League is a non-partisan organization that encourages citizen participation in the democratic process. Proceeds from this event will help support voter service activities, community education and advocacy.

Deer Creek Bingo coming up in Nov.

DEER CREEK — Annual BINGO for Prizes is at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8. 20 games for $15. Tickets available in advance at TC's Store or from board members.
