Community Happenings: Snacks with Santa, dance class, arts and crafts

Have 'Snacks with Santa' Saturday

WALTON — Walton Christian Church will host a Christmas activity, "Snacks with Santa," from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. There will be snacks, crafts, games, story time and a visit with Santa. Everything is free — bring a non-perishable food item to help support C.A.R.E, their food pantry. Don't forget your camera.

Make a move at dance clinic

Hunter Curl will be teaching a dance clinic starting Jan. 2 at the Cass County Family Y.

The age groups and times are: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., ages 5 to 9; 10 a.m. to noon, ages 10 to 13; and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., ages 14 and up, Jan. 2, 3 and 4, and parents are invited to attend a small show on Jan. 4.

Cost is $20 for members and $30 for non members. Register by Dec. 20. Wear dance attire — shorts or tight fitting pants, tank top or T-shirt and dance shoes if you have them; if not tennis shoes are fine.

YMCA hosting arts and crafts class

The Cass County Family Y will have a kids' holiday arts and crafts class from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18 for children kindergarten to fifth grade.

Registration ends Dec. 16, and the class size is limited to 20 kids. Cost is $10 per child.

During the two-hour class, children will make and take home a Christmas ornament and a framed drawing. All supplies are included.

For more information contact the Y at 574-753-5141.

Martin's raising funds for charity

Martin’s Super Markets will host its first “Snapshot with Santa” fundraising event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15, at Martin's in Logansport.

All proceeds will benefit pre-screened charitable organizations, which have been chosen in advance by the store.

During the event, children can visit with the store’s costumed Santa Claus and have his or her picture taken by a store assistant “elf.” Photos will be developed and printed immediately on site for a $2 cash contribution, which will in turn be donated to the store’s chosen charity.
