Community happenings: Moms' groups, senior expo, flu clinic

---- — Area Five Agency hosts mothers' groups

Registration is available for Area Five Parenting Support and Information Groups and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 26 in the lower level of Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 Spencer St.

Registration and information about the group will be available. The group is for all moms who want to get with other moms or even just need a break. Childcare is provided.

English and Spanish speaking moms meet at 10 a.m. Thursdays at Calvary Presbyterian Church (lower level). This group is for all moms who want to share experiences, learn from each other and have fun.

Parents of Angels meets at 10 a.m. with the Moms Group on Thursdays. This group is for any parent that has lost a child.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren meets at 1:30 p.m Thursdays. This is for any grandparent or relative raising other children.

Carroll chamber to host Senior EXPO

The 2nd Annual Carroll County Senior EXPO will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Burlington Community Center located at the Burlington Park. The EXPO is for baby boomers, seniors, caregivers, and family members featuring a diverse range of exhibitors, health screenings, food and entertainment.

The event is free to attend with free transportation available through the Flora Garden Spot Express and the Carroll County Senior & Family Services. Focus on the Future is again sponsoring the transportation. Call for ride reservations from Flora (574-967-3400) or Delphi (765-564-2772).

The Carroll County Health Department will be participating at this year's EXPO. They will administer shingles shots for $175 and hope to have flu shots available for $15. The first batch of flu shots are scheduled to be delivered to the county on Monday.

Musical entertainment will be from Kenny Holcomb of "Ray of Light" and a presentation will be given by grief recovery specialist Susan Holsinger. Lunch will be available for a small fee and several door prizes will be awarded during the event.

Influenza clinic slated for adults

The Cass County Health Department will hold a walk-in influenza clinic for adults only (19 years and older) on Sept. 27. Adults who wish to receive the vaccine may walk in from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The health department is located at 512 High St.

Influenza vaccine for this age group is $15. Payment may be made with cash or check only. The health department does not bill Medicare or insurance.

Rock'n'roll performers to kick off series

The Performing Arts Council of Logansport will present "Face 2 Face" at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at McHale Performing Arts Center, 1 Berry Lane in Logansport. Elton John and Billy Joel artists, Joey Riedel and Michael John have joined forces to create the Ultimate Tribute Show. The two add sing-along-parts, spontaneous humor, hit songs and outrageous costumes.
