BMV branches closed for Good Friday
INDIANAPOLIS — BMV license branches will be closed on Friday in observance of Good Friday, an Indiana state holiday, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Don Snemis announced last week.
All license branches with Saturday hours will resume regular business hours on Saturday.
Church egg hunt coming on Easter
Refuge Worship Center’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 4 p.m. with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. April 20 at the Cass County 4-H Fairgrounds. The event is for children ages 6 months to 11 years old. Food and prizes will be provided.
Kewanna cemetery cleanup begins
Spring cleanup of the Kewanna Citizens-IOOF Cemetery has been set for 4:30 p.m. April 23. Volunteers to help would be appreciated. A short annual meeting of the cemetery association will be immediately after the cleanup.
Persons with grave decorations they would like to save should remove them prior to the cleanup. All old, faded decorations will be removed.
All cemetery decorations and containers such as vases must be mounted upon the memorials or memorial foundations. Live plants, flowers, shrubs, trees and decorative rock around memorials and foundations are not permitted.
Donations towards the upkeep of the cemetery, including mowing and trimming, may be sent to P.O. Box 402, Kewanna, IN 46939.
Walmart opens grant application period
The Walmart Foundation State Giving Council Program will open the application period for its second funding cycle on April 13. Indiana nonprofit organizations can apply for funding to support programs within the scope of the “Focused Giving” areas that include hunger relief, healthy eating or career opportunity.
The deadline to submit grant requests is April 26. Grant requests for programs that would fall under “Community Engagement Giving,” i.e. education, health care access and other human services programs will be accepted during the fourth cycle in September.
