---- — ‘Greased Lightning’ celebration at GARB
GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE — The crew of the B-58 Hustler “Greased Lightning” will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its world-record flight on Saturday at the Grissom Air Museum open house.
Pilot Jack Strank will speak about the B-58 ejection capsule at 10:15 a.m. in the Hall of Honor, a “Greased Lightning” crew recognition ceremony will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Air Park, and a veteran lecture by a B-58 crew member will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Hall of Honor. In addition, former Kokomo police officer Tom Kelley, author of “Guardmount,” will sign copies of his book.
LMH Foundation silent auction coming
Logansport Memorial Hospital Foundation will have a silent auction from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday in Conference Room AB at the hospital, 1101 Michigan Ave., to bid on baskets of goodies that were donated by various employees and hospital departments. Proceeds go toward the purchase of a pizza oven in Cafe Express.
Senior Expo slated next week
Logansport Memorial Hospital and the Pharos-Tribune are co-sponsoring the inaugural Senior Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Angie’s Catering and Cakes.
There will be vendors and physicians to show products, services and programs for older adults, and there will be door prizes at many booths.
Red Cross planning blood drives
Upcoming American Blood drives in the area are:
Cass County: From 3 to 8 p.m. April 23 at Mike Anderson Chrysler Dodge Jeep on the showroom floor, 417 S. Third St., Logansport. This blood drive is hosted in memory of Kathy Dingo.
Fulton County: From 1 to 7 p.m. April 16 at the Akron United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall, 121 N. Mishawaka, Akron.
White County: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 17 at Zion Bethel Family Center in the Meeting Room, 415 S. Third St., Monticello.
