GRASS CREEK — The Ladies at Fletchers Lake United Methodist Church are sponsoring a free Ladies Guest Night at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grass Creek Fire Station. The Notables from Rochester will present the program.
A variety of sandwiches, salads and desserts will be served after the program.

Student collecting winter clothing items
As part of a senior project, Brooklyn Justice of Pioneer High School is doing a coat, glove, hat and scarf drive.
All new or gently used items of any size are welcomed. Drop-off boxes for donations will be at Logansport Rural King and Diversified General Federal Credit Union, 631 E. Broadway, across from the library. All donations will be given to the Emmaus Mission.
Battery recycling collection site open
GALVESTON — Galveston now has a collection site for battery recycling. Batteries contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, zinc, cadmium, manganese and lithium, according to a news release.
To keep these materials out of landfills, batteries may be taken to the lobby of First Farmers Bank for recycling.
Learn how to prevent bullying at workshop
Peak Community Services, 1416 Woodlawn Ave., is hosting a bullying prevention program from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Guest speaker Nicole Hicks will present “Bullying Prevention, Everyone’s Responsibility – What Parents Can Do!”
This workshop is designed for parents and professionals to explore the dynamics of bullying, and to learn what they can do to help children address this issue. The workshop focuses on students with and without disabilities, and includes a brief review of the applicable laws and available resources.
Dinner to help fund mission projects
St. James Lutheran Church Mission and Evangelism Board will sponsor a Hap’s and Chicken Back and congregational bake sale from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. It will be in the parish hall of the church at the corner of Ninth and Spear streets.
Carry-out orders will be available. Tickets are $8.50 for adults, and $4 for children 8 and under. Tickets will be available at the door or advanced tickets can be purchased from congregational members or the church office. Proceeds will go toward the church’s 2013 mission projects.
Fire Prevention Day coming to Riverside
The Logansport Fire Department and Firefighters Local 470 are kicking off Fire Prevention Week with Fire Prevention Day from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Riverside Park. Firefighters will be offering free fire truck rides, carousel rides, tours of the Safety House, popcorn and soda.
Adult influenza clinic set for Thursday
The Cass County Health Department will hold a walk-in influenza clinic Thursday for adults only, 19 years and older, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the health department, 512 High St.
Influenza vaccine for this age group is $15. Payment may be made with cash or check only. The health department does not bill Medicare or insurance.
