Chili cook-off, car show coming up

ROCHESTER — Rochester and Lake Manitou’s chamber of commerce is having its 22nd annual chili cook-off Oct. 12 in downtown Rochester.

Various teams battle it out for the region's “best chili” and many prizes are awarded. We need your help deciding which one is your favorite. People of all ages are welcome to come and taste as much as you would like, after purchasing tickets.

The Red Hot Car Show lines Main Street with many antique, restored and new vehicles. Children and adults of all ages enjoy making their way through the interesting crowd of cars each year.

Prizes are first and second place, people’s choice, and best decorated booth. Tickets are $.50 and you can purchase chili for two tickets, a hot dog for three tickets, and soda for two tickets. Teams must be set up in advance. Entry forms and rules/regulations are available at the Chamber office.

For more information, contact the Rochester and Lake Manitou Chamber of Commerce office at 574-224-2666 or www.contactrochester.org.

Pumpkin Run to support autism families

The second annual Pumpkin Run for Autism, from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 12, is a community event to help raise awareness and funds for families in Cass County living with autism.

The Pumpkin Run will be a fun race of decorated pumpkins down the hill at Bishop Park. Participants are asked to bring their own decorated, medium-sized pumpkin; a racing cart will be provided for your pumpkin at the start of the race. Pumpkins can be scary, funny, artsy, or whatever you want them to look like. There are no winners or losers.
