Community happenings: Habitat meetings, R-day, fundraisers

Habitat for Humanity gearing up

WINAMAC — Starke/Pulaski Habitat for Humanity is having informational meetings in April for anyone interested in becoming a Habitat for Humanity homeowner.

Applications are now being accepted for homes to be built in Starke and Pulaski counties. Applications are only available at the informational meetings and childcare is not provided at the meetings.

Meetings will take place:

• At 10 a.m. (EDT) April 5 at the Monterey Tippecanoe Twp. Library in Monterey and at 1 p.m. (EDT) at the Pulaski County Library in Winamac.

• At 10 a.m. (EDT) April 12 at the Francesville-Salem Twp. Library in Francesville and at 1 p.m. (EDT) at the Pulaski County Public Library in Medaryville.

Test drives to raise money for football

Mike Anderson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is hosting a fundraiser for the Logansport Football team from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 2 at the Logansport High School Football Stadium.

For every test drive of a 2014 DodgeRam, Dodge Grand Caravan, Dart, Challenger or Avenger, Dodge will donate $20.

R-Day slated at Spencer Park

There will be a Logansport R-Day at Spencer Park from 9 a.m. to noon April 5. Staff will take the usual recyclables such as metal and tin cans, number one and two plastic bottles, along with newspaper and cardboard. Bottles and cans need to be rinsed, but labels do not need to be removed.

This event is for Cass County residents only, not for business or industry.

The next scheduled regular R-Days will April 12 at Pioneer Elementary in Royal Center and June 7 in Logansport.

Dine to donate to music boosters

Logansport Music Boosters is hosting a dine to donate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 6 at Bob Evans. They will receive 15 percent of sales when diners present the flyer at time of check-out.

    Pioneer Jr.-Sr. High School officials have announced mandatory orientations for seventh- and eighth-grade students. A mandatory student orientation night for seventh-graders will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the school's auditorium.

    The public is invited to the Cass County Community Foundation’s 2014 Scholarship Send-Off Pizza Party and Reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at McHale Complex Pavilion at Riverside Park. All CCCF Scholarship recipients and their families are urged to attend.

  • Warbird Cruise-In this weekend at Grissom

    Grissom Air Museum is having its eighth Annual Warbird Cruise-In Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show on Saturday in its 15-acre air park. Registration is from 8 a.m. to noon, doors open at 10 a.m. with lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with awards at 3:30 p.m.
