Community happenings: Dial-a-Story, spring concert, fundraiser

Story promotes disability awareness

In honor of March as Disability Awareness Month, the Dial-a-Story for the month is “Danny and the Merry-Go-Round” by Nan Holcomb. It is about a little boy who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. The story can be heard by calling 574-737-8679.

Duke Energy rolls out outage info site

Duke Energy recently revamped its outage reporting system to provide more detailed outage information for all states in one platform.

The enhanced online maps include the number of customers affected, the time the outage was first reported, the cause (if available; in most instances, power outages are caused by adverse weather, trees, animals, equipment operations or vehicle-accident damage), the crew status and the estimated time of restoration.

Outage data is updated in 15-minute intervals. The maps may be accessed at — choose “Indiana” and click “Outage & Storm Information” under the residential table, then choose “View Current Electric Outages.” A mobile version is also available.

Spring concert to take place March 11

Logansport Community Schools choirs will have the annual “Sounds of Spring” concert at 7 p.m. March 11 in the McHale Performing Arts Center. Participating groups will include the Logansport High School Swing Choir and Concert Choir, the Columbia Middle School Choir and the Lincoln Middle School Choir. Each of the groups will perform alone, as well as in combination with each other; the concert finale will have two selections featuring the entire 240-voice ensemble. Tickets are available at the door only for $3 for adults and $2 for students through grade 12.

Carroll Co. to have annual dinner

DELPHI — The annual State of the County, City and Towns dinner and address will be at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. March 13 at the Wabash and Erie Canal Center, Delphi. Tickets are $10 per person with the meal included. RSVP by March 10 to the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce by calling 765-564-6757.

Air museum fundraiser slated for March 26

Grissom Air Museum will be conducting its first fundraiser of the new 2014 season from 4 to 9 p.m. March 26 at the Applebee’s, Logansport. The museum will receive 15 percent of the night’s profit minus the tips and taxes. Every diner must have their Dining to Donate flyer on them before they go into the restaurant.
