On the 20th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Logansport High School social studies teacher L’Dean Cornelius remembers how LHS students reacted that day. They wept. Cornelius says Logansport was quiet during the weekend after the assassination, and it was a slow time for business.

Eli Lilly has lost a $6 million federal lawsuit over its drug Oraflex.

Indiana, behind a gutsy performance by a tailback pressed into duty as quarterback after the first play from scrimmage, rallied for a 15-15 tie against No. 8 Purdue. In Phil Dickens’ first season at the helm, the Hoosiers finished with their best record in 11 years. Purdue at 6-1-2 finished with its best mark since 1943. Purdue dropped to 11th in the ratings after the loss. Iowa moved up to No. 2 after defeating Notre Dame 31-21 and earning a Rose Bowl berth.

U.S. forces will remain in Germany.

More than $300 was stolen in a break-in at the new Monticello Eagles Lodge.

Rep. Charles Halleck will speak at the Jackson Township Elementary School dedication in Galveston.

Michael Kennedy, 58, a Lafayette businessman, has died.

William Clancy and Mary Gibbs have been married.

Mrs. M.D. Brown of Bluffton died of a stroke after learning of her son’s death.

Jesse Stilwell of Portland, Ore., will marry Maud Milburn of this city.

Christina Schoot, 2028 George St., a pioneer Logansport resident, has died, as has Lillian Ball, a 32-year-old Clay Township resident.
