McCain will bring the real change

Don’t let the wolf in sheep’s clothing fool you! (Some folks are great talkers and not doers.) The liberals would love to take over and repeal Bush’s tax cuts ... and that is where and how they will get the middle class.

“Let’s spread the wealth,” as Obama said and wants to do!

So if you don’t want to support those that don’t want to work, then vote for McCain/Palin for real change!

Don’t let the liberals pull our defenses down and not fight terrorists.

God bless America and keep her safe and strong. Go GOP in ’08!

Obama has spotty record

I’ve been reading the endorsements of Barack Obama. I personally believe if you’re running for president, character and honesty are important factors, especially if your record is spotty due to voting “present” over 120 times instead of voting yes or no as Sen. Obama did in the Illinois State Senate. He has spent most of his time as a United States Senator running for President.

As for Hillary Clinton being an “ardent Obama supporter,” I think we all know she would support anyone if it was somehow politically expedient for her to do so.

Back to Sen. Obama. This “self-made man” got into Harvard Law School with help from radical Saudi extremists, and his campaign has refused to release any information on his college days.

For a man of such great character, Sen. Obama sure picks some strange friends, whether it’s terrorist Bill Ayers, the Daleys, slumlord/felon Tony Rezko, Louis Farrakhan, the voter-fraud promoters at ACORN or the “happy preacher.”

In regard to Mayor Fincher’s endorsement, I guess I have trouble understanding how someone of the Catholic faith can endorse someone who is not only pro-abortion, but also voted to kill any baby that survives the abortion process.

I understand that the mayor has family members serving in the military, and for that they should be commended. Sen. Obama was against the surge that turned the tide in Iraq. In fact, he is still against it and denies it worked. Obama is not pro-military by any stretch, and actually said our troops were air-raiding villages in Iraq.

Sen. Obama said that $4 a gallon gas really doesn’t bother him much. I’ll bet it bothers the mayor when he works out a budget. Obama’s ideas like income redistribution and taking away law-abiding citizen’s right to own a firearm for protection or sport sounds just a little too much like socialism to me. I tend not to trust somebody who says, “I won’t raise your taxes, I’ll just repeal your tax cuts.”

Sometimes I think blind partisanship gets in the way of values and faith. I hope that’s not the case here.

So do your research and choose your sources carefully. If after doing that, you want to vote for Barack Obama, do it. Heck, vote two or three times. Mayor Daley and ACORN would want it that way!

Politics leaves freedom at risk

The signs are up. Some yards are as littered with political hopes as mine is with the season’s falling leaves. It appears many citizens still believe their candidates will make all the difference. That kind of faith is failing me.

A pair of political scientists recently made a study of individual voters. Most tended to believe political lies even after being informed of the falsehood. A perfect example is the woman claiming she read Obama was an Arab. There’s also the Indiana native who would never vote Democratic, unless, of course, Evan Bayh was Barack’s running mate. If our reasoning can be this idiotic, perhaps we deserve the governance we get.

Some of us blindly vote a party line regardless of issues, the record or the candidates. Even when partisan philosophies change, we must remain true to the ticket.

We are fed subliminal messages, tempted to fear and distrust the opposition always endorsed by the candidate or party machine. No content, no proof, no issues, no problem-solving need appear. Then there are the rallies. No dissidents, no argumentative questions, not even doubt are allowed entry. I am troubled by this masquerade when it is the real, imperfect world we must deal with.

This is not the first campaign to roll in the mud, receive questionable contributions, be accused of voter fraud. We have a political history long enough to be tarnished. But a question keeps haunting me. Where is democracy in this system? When foreign involvement takes precedence over domestic concerns, when taxpayers are forced to bail out those living beyond their means and speculators enriching themselves at the trough of greed, is it a sign of democracy’s great leap forward, or an apocalyptic omen?

They say our right to vote is our hand of power in this representative government. But how can this be so when our choices are limited to an elite class far removed from the daily struggles of survival, when delegates can decide against the popular voice and select the “better candidate,” when the president-elect winning the right states can secure enough electoral votes to cancel the will of the people?

Until we, the people, realize we are ruled by the privileged of society who thrive on positions of power, whose ideology is as certain as any tyrant’s, who coerce opinion into dogma and polls into mandates, our liberty and independence are at risk.

Voters lack good choices

On Nov. 4, I will have to do my patriotic duty. I must vote for the next president of the United States.

My dilemma is this. I’m not sure I want either one of the candidates. There are so many unanswered questions.

One of the problems facing our next president is the state of our economy. For years, Democrats have called Republicans the friends of Big Business.

But during the Clinton presidency, Congress passed a bill doing away with all restraints or controls on big business and Wall Street. President Clinton signed this bill into law. Welcome to hard times.

Sen. Obama says McCain’s health and tax plan will cost us another $800 billion in taxes. He says if you have employer health insurance, McCain will have you pay taxes on your employer’s part.

Obama’s plan it is said will cost us $1 trillion. His answer is a plan similar to Hillary and national health care programs.

He also believes in gun control and, when asked, declines to answer questions pertaining to Right to Life.

Obama’s running mate has years of liberal experience. McCain’s running mate, I just hope if he gets elected, he will be able to finish a full term. I don’t think Gov. Palin is qualified to take over.

We don’t know what the next four years will bring. But whoever is president will face a term of tough problems and uncertain times.

I pray the good Lord will help us to make the right decision. We all need to pray for his guidance. I am still proud to say, “God bless America.”

Voters deserve another choice

The following is an idea that would be nice to be put before the people of the United States of America as a referendum this election: Let the Democrats and the Republicans put their candidates on the ballot like they have done in the past, but there ought to be a space left for a third choice. The voter would check this box if neither candidate was acceptable.

If the majority of the voters checked that box, then there would be another vote. This way the voter doesn’t have to prostitute their vote if there are no acceptable candidates to vote for. This would put pressure on these two wonderful parties to present the American voter a viable choice or get out of the way.

Think about it, if we would have spent the money that was spent on this war and on the election on windmills instead, we would be able to bring all the troops home because we wouldn’t need all that oil and we would have enough energy for all of us and probably enough extra to sell and then we could distribute the profits to all U.S. citizens like Alaska does.

You do know this is your oil on those federal lands and waters? But, what would that do to the price of that barrel of West Texas Sweet Crude Oil? Can you say $30 per barrel or less? What state is this man in the White House from?

The price of oil went up when we invaded an oil-producing country and it will go down when we get out. There is a correlation. Gasoline, for those who have forgotten, was 69 cents a gallon in 1999 and a barrel of oil was $15.  Cut the production of your competition by invading them and that makes your production more valuable. That’s what this war has done. The man in the White House had a plan, contrary to what some thought, and he carried out that plan very well.

If this man in the White House was a hog farmer, pork would be $10 a pound instead of 50 cents a pound. If you put lipstick on an oil man he’s still an oil man.

Are the voters

being tricked?

This election is the most important election in my lifetime with ramifications that will last for centuries. The first black person to run for president and the first Republican female vice presidential candidate. Banks are failing, and stock market is in the worst shape since the Great Depression. Both canadates promise to fix the problems. The problem lies in the fact many voters don’t know the difference between true/false, right/wrong, virtue/vice and, of course, political promises.

Of course, John McCain has more experience and served our country well and is of solid character. He is qualified for the job. But he ran his campaign like a beginner.

He is limited in what he can say about a non- white. ... He isn’t allowed to talk about Obama’s supporters or his family. It appears that he has been bound and gagged, then sent out to campaign with no money. All he is allowed to say is “I’m a war hero, a maverick and your friend with the most experience.”

The liberal media has attacked his V.P. candidate more than any other in history. They attack everything about her and her family.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, ran his campaign like a pro. He always appears calm, collected, almost serene planning every move and tricking his opponent into accepting public money, then changing his mind.

He has run his campaign like an expert poker player. He never gets upset or shaken, and he is always in control. He can attack anything in the McCain-Palin camp without any repercussions along with support from the media.

The liberal media keeps anything that might be questionable locked in the closet; they don’t want anybody seeing what trick cards he is holding in his hand.

I have been thinking about voting for him. Who wouldn’t? He has promised me that I won’t pay any taxes, keep my house, have free health care and he will find me a job. Who can turn this down? I just hope all the rich people that are going to pay for all this don’t move their money offshore and mess everything up, forcing the middle class to pay for it all. My question is: Is Mr. Obama just tricking us like he did to Mr. McCain?

Klinck works hard

for community

To all voters in Indiana Senate District 18, if you have not voted yet, please consider Linda Klinck, the candidate with the most experience and knowledge in government.

She not only has more experience, she has a love and compassion for her small town of Logansport and Cass County that can’t be beat. She was born and raised in Logansport and has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for all of its citizens.

And now she would like to do the same for Miami County, Fulton County, nine townships of Pulaski County, four townships of Kosciusko County and two townships of Wabash County, as well as all of her own county (Cass).

Linda is deputy mayor of Logansport, was formerly associate director of the Main Street program and region 4 program manager for the Indiana Department of Commerce, a Logansport city councilwoman for two terms, and a small business owner for 16 years.

She has been an Iron Horse Festival chairwoman, a Cass County Carousel board of directors member in which she was instrumental in raising funds to refurbish all the animals on the Dentzel Carousel, a Cass County treasure.

As our state senator, Linda will make sure that all counties in her district get their fair share of government resources instead of most of the money going to projects for the larger cities of Indiana all the time. She will help reduce obstacles that stand in the way of growth for our small communities.

These are just afew of Linda Klinck’s achievements and contributions to our community, and I know she wants to do more for every community in District 18. She has more energy and drive to get things done than anyone I’ve met. Her passion for public service has no boundaries. Her philosophy is to improve the quality of life for everyone she has the chance to help, and she has the knowledge, the drive and the experience to get that done for all of us in District 18.

Please remember, too, that it doesn’t matter how many political signs, or billboards, or TV/radio ads a candidate spends money on. Your vote should go to the candidate who has the experience and compassion to work for all of us, no matter what political persuasion we might have. That person Is Linda Klinck!

Doesn’t honesty

count any more?

With Election Day looming, it seems evident to me that a lot of people are voting based on emotion rather than facts. Either a large portion of the voting population is woefully uninformed or misinformed, or … honesty and integrity just don’t count. If Barack Obama were to apply for the CIA would these things matter? 1. Refusing access to his birth certificate and school records. 2. Denying and lying about his associations with domestic and foreign terrorists. 3. Terrorist states supporting and rooting for him. 4. His interference in the Kenyan election that cost 1,000 lives. Should that make me feel safe?

Add to this his attempts to silence or destroy anyone who disagrees with or exposes him, his plan to “spread the wealth around” and his determination for an authoritarian judiciary. Liberty and the rule of law are at stake here, folks. Also, a president who would protect an enemy combatant from “torture” but has no problem leaving innocent pre-born or just born infants to the mercy of abortionists would certainly be “change,” but is it the “change we need”?

We have been thumbing our nose at God blatantly since we sat back and allowed Him to be taken out of our public schools. Is it any wonder there’s little discernment in the land today? Now, black is white, white is black, good is bad, bad is good, lies are truth, truth are lies, etc. Blindness accompanies rebellion.

The prophet Jeremiah warned the ancient Israelites that judgment was coming unless they turned from their evil ways and did what was right. Their response was as it is today. We aren’t Israel but the principle hasn’t changed — obedience brings peace and prosperity, disobedience brings terrible consequences.

Christians are called to fast and pray on Nov. 3. It’s not too late if we will only apply II Chron. 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.” Remember, judgment begins at the house of the Lord.

Russia might

provide test

Sen. Joseph Biden stated that if Sen. Barack Obama becomes president he would face a crisis from a foreign power within six months. What might that be? I believe it might involve a move by Russia to reclaim land lost in 1991.

It was the Russian Empress Catherine the Great who used the Russian Army to seize the Ukraine and Crimea around 1680. During the Second World War the Germans occupied Belarus and Ukraine during the period 1941-1944. The Soviets lost 42 percent of their farmland during this period. The United States was able to ship 5 million tons of food to Russia after 1940. The Russian army and security forces which numbered 12,000,000 during the war got half a pound of battlefield rations each day of the war from the United States. The Russians were able to move factories and machine tools fast away from the Germans in 1941 but not the farmland.

If one wonders what difference there is between Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama, perhaps their reaction to Russian moves on Georgia can be an indication. Rep. Barney Frank states that the Democrats will reduce the armed forces by 25 percent if elected in large majorities in Congress. When asked what he saw in the eyes of Minister Putin, Sen. McCain said KGB. I do not know what Sen. Obama sees in the eyes of Minister Putin.

It was Sen. Biden who raised this question. It was Sen. Biden who questioned Sen. Obama’s experience as to Obama’s ability to be president during the primary season.

Minister Putin is now displaying an active foreign policy in dealings with Europe. In order to carry out his designs, it is necessary to remind the states that left the Soviet Union that they are still vassal states to the new Russia.

If the United States weakens its armed forces, Minister Putin may become more aggressive in his designs for the new Russia. Perhaps Iran is the Poland of the 21st Century. Russia, the new one, is a fascist state in the making. We can look down on the new Russia. What do we see?
