BIZ BUZZ: Packard opening Indy office this month

Monticello conference to address ADA section 503

Logansport insurance broker David Packard is expanding his firm with the opening of a small office on the north side of Indianapolis.

Packard signed a lease June 4 on an office in a suite located at 10401 N. Meridian St., Suite 300, just off of U.S. 31 in Indianapolis.

Packard said his daughter Emma Packard will run that office while he remains in Logansport at the office he’s owned since 2006. The Indy office will handle health and life insurance for seniors only.

“I’ve just picked up so many Medicare clients — people over age 65 — and it’s just a bigger market down there,” Packard said. Several already live in Indy suburbs.

“They’re driving all the way up here,” he explained. “I figure I ought to be down there, too.”

The majority of his clients are Medicare clients, Packard said.

“Since the Medicare Advantage plans and the Medicare drug plans have come out ... I’ve gone from 300 Medicare clients to almost 1,600, from Indianapolis north,” he said.

He hopes to have the Indy office open by the end of this month.

Packard and Associates’ Logansport office is located at 417 E. Market St. Staff may be reached at 574-722-4725.

CONFERENCE TO ADDRESSADA QUESTIONS

MONTICELLO — In this month’s ADA Audio Conference, hosted by the ADA National Network, representatives from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Department of Labor will address some confusion around disclosure under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act.

The conference, “Disclosure of Disability under the ADA and Its Relationship to Section 503 Regulations,” will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at IU Health White Memorial Hospital, Hibner Conference Room C, 720 S. Sixth Street in Monticello.

It is hosted by the city of Monticello and the Mayor’s ADA Advisory Council. The conference is free and open to the public, according to a press release.
