Summer is here and we are busy with lots of events at the Chamber of Commerce. We have held several HYPE (Helping You Pursue Excellence) classes this year as well as networking breakfasts and lunches. In addition, we have hosted our annual Administrative Professional’s Day Luncheon as well as the golf outing. These events are designed to help create a strong, educated, connected and thriving business community here in Cass County.
One way for businesses to connect with customers and other businesses is through social media. The Chamber of Commerce realizes how important social media is in today’s world. It is an easy and free way to connect with a target audience on a regular basis. The chamber website, www.logan-casschamber.com, features business listings for all of our members. We also have the ability to list each business’ social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterist, Google+, YouTube, Flickr, Instagram and FourSquare. When you visit the Chamber’s website, you are really getting connected to the businesses you are searching for.
The chamber has seen many of our small and entrepreneurial businesses do away with expensive web pages in favor of these free social media avenues. Facebook and Twitter are great marketing platforms for bringing awareness to sales events, new products and social events.
LEADERSHIP PROGRAM COMING
The Chamber has partnered with Purdue Extension to reveal the 2014 Community Leadership Program. The basis for this class is to create a network of knowledgeable and committed leaders who are willing to step up to the plate and make a difference in their community.
The new program will start Sept. 9. This will be a 12-week program held on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. until noon at various Cass County locations. This leadership class was designed to help facilitate civic leadership in Cass County. Participants will earn a certificate of completion from Purdue University for participation in this program. It will be Purdue Extension class — developed, facilitated and taught by Purdue Extension.
