---- — MCF names employees of quarter

BUNKER HILL — Miami Correctional Facility has named its Employees of the Third Quarter. Those honored include: Joyce Brantley, Employee of the Quarter (non-custody); Sgt. Quentin Coppernoll, Supervisor of the Quarter (custody or non-custody); and Officer Denver Nettifee, Custody Officer of the Quarter.

Brantley, Correctional Caseworker, was hired in May 2007 as a Correctional Officer at Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility. She was rehired as a Program Coordinator 3 at the Criminal Justice Institute and transferred to MCF in April 2012 as a Caseworker 4.

Coppernoll, Unit Team Manager, was hired in November 2005 as a Correctional Officer. He promoted to Sergeant in December 2012.

Nettifee was hired at MCF as a Correctional Officer in January 2013.

These outstanding staffers set good examples for others, take part in special projects, exercise good judgment, demonstrate enthusiasm for work, demonstrate outstanding achievement, are team-oriented, display dependability and perseverance, have a positive attitude, communicate well with others, and display professionalism.

MCF recognizes leadership excellence

BUNKER HILL — Miami Correctional Facility honored several correctional leaders with quarterly “Leadership Challenge Awards” recently.

•	Inspire a Shared Vision (Search for opportunities by seeking innovative ways to change, grow, and improve) — Sgt. Danny Waller. Sgt. Waller was hired at MCF as a Correctional Officer in November 2010. He promoted to Sergeant in September 2013.

•	Enabling Others to Act (Strengthen others by sharing power and discretion)—Sgt. Zachary Whann. Sgt. Zachary Whann was hired at MCF as a Correctional Officer in December 2005 and promoted to sergeant in August 2007.

•	Challenge the Process (Experiment and take risks by constantly generating small wins and learning from mistakes) – Sean Moore, Unit Team Manager. Mr. Moore was hired at MCF in January 2004 as a Casework Manager 3. In February 2007 he promoted to Unit Team Manager 2.

•	Encourage the Heart (Recognize contributions by showing appreciation for individual excellence) – Joyce Holland, Casework Manager. Ms. Holland began her career at MCF as a Casework Manager 3 in March 2009.

•	Model the Way (Set the example by aligning actions with shared values) — Ofc. Shaun Dwyer. Ofc. Dwyer was hired in January 2002 as a correctional officer.

Leadership White County to kick off in January

MONTICELLO — Leadership White County 2014 will kick off on Jan. 15 with nine sessions planned as part of this year’s curriculum. 2014 will mark the fifth leadership class in the county. In 2012, organizers decided to host the class every other year.

Session topics include: Personality Styles and Team Building; County Government and Tourism; Conflict Management and Clean Energy; Generational Differences; County and State Funding, Public Communication Skills and Making a Difference.

2014 Leadership White County begins Jan. 15 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital. Sessions are scheduled on Wednesdays beginning at 11 a.m. The graduation ceremony is scheduled on March 12 at Camp Tecumseh.

The cost for Leadership White County is $200. Participants may be sponsored by their employer or a non-profit organization. Employer Consent Forms are part of the application process.

Dukes named top performer on pneumonia

PERU — Dukes Memorial Hospital was recently named as one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of U.S. health care organizations.

Dukes Memorial Hospital was recognized for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions. These conditions include heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, stroke and venous thromboembolism, as well as inpatient psychiatric services.

Dukes Memorial Hospital is one of 1,099 hospitals earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in the following measure set: Pneumonia.

The ratings are based on an aggregation of accountability measure data reported to The Joint Commission during the 2012 calendar year.

This is the third year in a row that Dukes Memorial Hospital is being recognized as a Top Performer. Previously, Dukes was recognized by The Joint Commission for its achievement on the measure of pneumonia.
