A 15-year-old business near downtown Logansport is reinventing itself as a women's boutique.
The Village Peddler at the corner of 19th Street and Broadway, owned by Eric and Cindy Meister, is adding women's clothing, accessories and jewelry to its store, which formerly carried more crafted products.
Cindy Meister said customers' favorite items stayed on the shelf after she removed much of the craft-type merchandise last year, and the store still sells nutritional supplements under the direction of Eric Meister, whose chiropractic office remains adjacent to the store.
However, the main part of the store is now devoted to displays of blouses, handbags, jewelry and scarves.
The Meisters introduced a small collection of boutique-style items in the spring, said Cindy Meister.
"It did well," she said. "We saw that people were wanting that in Logansport."
So, she decided to delve further into the boutique world this fall. And that's likely to continue, she added.
"I've already started buying for next spring," said Cindy Meister.
The shift at the store didn't result in any additional hires beyond the four part-time workers already there, she said.
The store's hours differ each day, but staff may be reached at 574-722-6165.
