Photo print accepted into collection
Local professional photographer Dr. Umamaheswara Rao Kalapatapu entered an international print competition of Professional Photographers America conducted July 29-Aug. 1 in Atlanta, Ga. One of his prints — “Potion of Joy" — was accepted for the general collection.
Kalapatapu, a psychiatrist and co-owner of Raj Clinics, has been a certified professional photographer by Professional Photographers of America since 2005.
Hudson named GM of three printers
PERU — Jim Hudson of Anderson has been named general manager of three Indiana printing businesses who operate under ReproComm Inc., including Modern Graphics in Peru.
The businesses are Lafayette Printing Co., 511 Ferry St. in Lafayette; Modern Graphics Inc., 179 N. Miami St. in Peru; and Hudson Printing, 1201 E. Fifth St., Suite 1018 in Anderson.
Hudson will oversee all customer service, prepress and production at the three sites.
Born and raised in Anderson, Hudson earned a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Purdue University. He has 40 years' experience in the industry, most at Hudson Printing, where he learned the business from his father and grandfather, then became the owner and operator.
The three printing businesses, which continue operating under their longtime names, combined operations under the ReproComm name in 2011.
Modern Graphics' roots go back to 1966 when Kinary Press opened as a commercial offset job shop. Its growth includes launching a weekly advertiser in 1969; and renaming the business Modern Graphics Inc. in 1974. The company serves several North Central Indiana counties, providing a full range of printing and labeling services, including pre-press, press, finishing and graphic design.
Disney Institute coming to Wabash
WABASH — Disney Institute is bringing its renowned professional development course, “Disney’s Approach to Quality Service,” to the Honeywell Center in Wabash on Aug. 27.
This full-day event is sponsored by Ivy Tech Corporate College. “Disney’s Approach to Quality Service” will demonstrate how anticipating and reacting to customers’ needs, wants and emotions is an integral aspect of delivering quality service and achieving business results.
A full-day Disney’s Approach to Quality Service program will give participants an insider’s look at business practices that have helped Disney maintain respect for product and service quality. Participants will learn how to exceed customer expectations using a well-defined service infrastructure, ongoing research and service standards.
