Brook Langley, a Walton beef farmer, has entered two head of Angus into the beef division of the 40th annual North American International Livestock Exposition. The NAILE is the world’s largest purebred livestock show with more than 26,000 entries and nearly $750,000 in prizes and awards, and is scheduled for Nov. 9-22 in Louisville, Ky.
Akron musicianto be recognized
AKRON — Joyce Jones, vocal musician and choral director, will be named the “Artist of the Year” during the sixth annual meeting of the Akron Area Arts League on Thursday in the Akron Community Center, located east of Akron, north on Ind. 14.
Jarrety’s will provide a light meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by a short AAAL business meeting and several selections by the Fulton County Choral Club.
Jones was chosen for her many years of commitment to the community in the area of vocal music. She has given her time and talent to bring the joy of singing to the women in the Fulton County Choral Club. Also, she is a vocalist in the “Sentimental Journey Band” and in area churches.

Reaction Cards to present sets to schools
Reaction Cards has released a new conversation starter aimed at assisting educational settings with a way to open up communication with teens about bullying. The new game, Teen Reaction, “focuses on preventing bullying in school, at home, and online by preparing students for situations all too common with today’s youth,” according to cofounder Chris Martin.
Teen Reaction is being presented to Pioneer Jr.-Sr. High School on Oct. 17 and to Columbia and Lincoln middle schools in Logansport on Oct. 18 thanks to local businesses and individuals. Reaction Cards is in contact with Lewis Cass and Caston to present there as well.
Reaction Cards, the Logansport business that produced games Parental Reaction and Marital Reaction, is planning on continuing its “Going the Distance” campaign throughout the state of Indiana. Nominations taken for annual awards
The Logansport-Cass County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its five annual awards to be presented later this year.
The chamber seeks to decide which companies and businesspeople have had the greatest impact on the quality of life in Cass County during the past year. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Businessman of the Year, Businesswoman of the Year, Large Business/Industry of the Year, Small Business/Industry of the Year, and Quality of Life.
