Carney joins Angus association

Robert Carney, Twelve Mile, is a new member of the American Angus Association, reports Bryce Schumann, CEO of the national breed organization headquartered in Saint Joseph, Mo.

The American Angus Association, with more than 24,000 active adult and junior members, is the largest beef breed association in the world. Its computerized records include detailed information on more than 17 million registered Angus.

Security Federal official completes training

Rachael Chosnek, vice president of compliance and audit risk manager of Security Federal Savings Bank, recently completed the American Bankers Association Graduate School of Compliance Risk Management, an advanced curriculum for experienced compliance professionals and graduates of the ABA National Compliance School.

The school took place Oct. 20-25 at the Emory Conference Center in Atlanta.

Chosnek has been in the banking industry for 10 years with the past two years at Security Federal. She received her B.A. from Purdue University.

Security Federal Savings Bank has locations in Logansport, Kokomo, Delphi and Lafayette.

Seminar to focus on rehab act

The Howard County & Cass County Business Leadership Network will be hosting a free luncheon focusing on upcoming laws regarding the 503 rule and hiring practices.

The U.S. Federal Government recently announced new rules for Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act which will require federal contractors and subcontractors to plan affirmative action toward employing qualified individuals with disabilities.

The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Grissom Air Reserve Base, 1525 W. Hoosier Blvd. Room 108, Peru. It is for federal contractors and community rehabilitation providers who wish to work together on recruiting qualified applicants and learning about the new 503 regulations

Marcy Hintzman, the assistant director Compliance and Disability Services Office of Institutional Equity, Purdue University will present “Recruiting, Hiring, and Retaining Individuals with Disabilities.”

The presentation will cover misconceptions and barriers individuals with disabilities face, a review of section 503 of Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Americans with Disabilities Act as amended and steps employers can take to recruit, hire, and retain individuals with disabilities.
