Landing Downtown: Making downtown fun to visit

---- — The focus of the Logan’s Landing organization is to improve and preserve Logansport’s downtown district. It is our mission to make downtown a viable place to operate a business, a rewarding place to live, and a fun place to visit. We work with existing businesses to help them draw attention to their downtown location and make sure that people know who they are and where they are.

These efforts can take many different forms. One of our newest is also one of the most fun! If your downtown business or organization is approaching a milestone (such as first full year in business, five years in business, 12 years in business, etc.), let us know and we will arrange a free visit from the Birthday Brigade! We will come to your business with cupcakes, banners, hats, and noisemakers and have a brief celebration with you, your employees and your customers. We will also place our Happy Birthday sign in front of your business to help attract the attention of people driving past. You worked hard to reach this milestone — you deserve a little recognition!

Logan’s Landing also hosts several downtown events throughout the year. It is our intention to make downtown a destination — whether to shop at downtown merchants, eat at a downtown restaurant, or simply enjoy a special event, we encourage people to see what downtown Logansport has to offer.

One of our best-known events is the Taste of Cass County. The date has officially been set for the 2014 Taste — it will take place on Saturday, Aug. 9 in downtown Logansport, starting at 5 p.m. Local restaurants and eateries will have booths selling sample-sized portions of various foods, and there will be an adult beverage tent for those who wish to partake. The state-of-the-art Community Foundation mobile stage will be home to live music throughout the evening, and the Kids Korner area will offer fun and games for the youngsters.

Businesses and organizations have the opportunity to sponsor the Taste, with a variety of sponsorship levels available. Sponsorships are currently being accepted; call the Logan’s Landing office at 574-722-9345 for more information. Last year’s co-chairs, Kim English and Chris Gaumer, will be chairing the event again this year, and their goal is to make this year’s Taste the best one yet!

If you own a downtown property that is for sale or rent, we would be happy to post that information on the Logan’s Landing website for you, free of charge. We will list pertinent information such as square footage, price, and features, along with the contact information for the owner or realtor. Photos make your posting more eye-catching, so we will also post those whenever possible.
