BIZ BUZZ: Pizza Hut adding Wing Street kitchen space

The Pizza Hut in Logansport is building additional kitchen space to add a new set of menu items: a Wing Street franchise.

"We've been planning it for some time," said Tod Erbaugh, general manager of the Pizza Hut at 3322 E. Market St. It's one of the nearly 50 Pizza Hut franchises under the Freeland franchise group based in Fort Wayne.

The Freeland franchises have all been adding Wing Street locations, Erbaugh said. The foundation for the new kitchen space was poured Aug. 9 and will provide room for one or two fryers.

The remodels should be finished later this fall, Erbaugh said. A building permit filed with the Logansport Community Development office indicated the addition would run about $70,000.

"We're looking forward to bringing some new products to our customers," said Erbaugh. That should include about three to four choices of wings, as well as a couple of new sandwiches and three to four new appetizer options.

Pizza Hut staff can be reached at 574-722-3226.

AUTO GLASS SHOP OPENING STOREFRONT

MACY — American Auto Glass is opening a storefront next to the shop at the residence the owner's family has been operating out of for the last three years.

The windshield repair service owned by Tonya Kirkwood has up to now worked with insurance companies as a home-based business, and the companies urged the family business to expand its operations to having a waiting area and public reception office.

"Hopefully we're going to add two or three more positions," said Jason Kirkwood, operations manager for his mother's business. That includes a sales position that was just filled, as well as two windshield installation positions and one potential apprenticeship.

The new public areas will be located in existing buildings on the family's property that are to be remodeled. Jason Kirkwood hopes to have the public lobby/waiting area open by early winter.
