Dollar General opens in Galveston

Dollar General opened its newest location Saturday at 415 S. California St., in Galveston.

The 9,141 square-foot store will feature a permanent “treasure hunt” section, seasonal products, signs to designate separate departments and coolers located at the front of the store, according to a news release.

Dollar General stores provide a selection of both national and private brands for foods, housewares, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, basic apparel and health and beauty care products.

Dollar General has more than 8,000 stores nationwide.

Former Salt Store sold

The building that formerly housed the Salt Store has been sold, although the new owner is still unknown.

The building is located on Erie Avenue next to The Baker’s Specialty.

A Galloway Murray and Scheetz Real Estate sign indicated the building was sold through realtor Georgie Murray. Murray was unavailable for comment.
