Lafayette troopers receive recognition

Troopers Jon Eads, Josh Edwards and Ryan Royer of the Indiana State Police post in Lafayette were recognized at the annual Indiana State Police Recognition and Awards Ceremony in Indianapolis for their quick action in saving a life.

On June 12, Eads, Edwards and Royer were off duty at Lafayette’s Lybolt Field when they heard and responded to a woman screaming. They found her standing over her husband who had collapsed.

An immediate assessment of the situation led the troopers to believe the victim had suffered a heart attack. They utilized a automated external defibrillator that was in the trunk of a patrol car and began performing CPR until paramedics arrived. The immediate and decisive actions of the troopers saved the life of the Lafayette man.

Troopers Eads and Royer live in the Lafayette area while Edwards lives in Warren County.
