An assisted living facility in Logansport is planning a $1.5 million addition.
McKinney House Assisted Living, located at 3901 High St., recently filed for a building permit for a 17-room expansion.
The additional rooms will be one-bedroom apartments with a bath and kitchenette. Once the rooms are completed, the common areas will also be updated. The anticipated opening date is Oct. 21.
McKinney House currently houses approximately 35 tenants. The facility provides services for meals, bathing, medication management and nursing.
Ortiz opens tortilla bakery
A new tortilla bakery has opened on Fourth Street in Logansport.
Dora Ortiz opened Tortillera Cuatro Milpas about a month ago. With some help from family members, Ortiz makes fresh corn and flour tortillas as well as nacho chips beginning at 7:30 a.m. every morning.
Ortiz said she may expand the business in the future.
Tortillera Cuatro Milpas is open 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily and can be reached at (574) 753-8191.
